Beautiful Baby!

Paige is born!

Friday, November 21, 2008 went by like so many others before. John got home from work in the evening as normal. Since it was Friday and we wanted to get out, we decided to go see "Wall-E" at the dollar movie theater with the kids.

We headed off and enjoyed the a fun evening watching "Wall-E." After returning home, we went to bed as usual.
At approximately 3:00 AM, Haley started having contractions. She faithfully counted the contractions till about 4:00 AM, at which point, she woke John to tell him the news.
"Honey," Haley tapped John awake. "I have been having contractions for the past hour. I'm going to go take a bath and see if they stop." Haley said. "Just keep resting and I'll let you know how it goes..."
Yeah RIGHT!!
Well, the contractions didn't stop, so we called Haley's Dad to come over and sit for the morning while the kids slept. After his arrival, we headed off to the hospital (and to make up for John's law abiding drive to the hospital with Trevor, he drove extra fast).
The hospital checked us in and confirmed that the contractions were labor contraction and Haley had dialated to 4 cm. This triggered the go-ahead for a C-section (which is what we had planned to do on the 25th).
All the doctors and staff showed up, started the C-section and Paige Elizabeth Schurter was born at 8:13 AM, November 22, 2008.
Paige weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She is beautiful and healthy. She cried so well in the OR and was soon very hungry!

Here John is waiting in the nursery with Paige for Mom to get put back together.

They finished putting Haley back to gether and soon Mom and Baby were reunited for the first time. Paige sure likes her Mommy. Eating was no sweat either. As you can see here, Paige is rooting around, looking for the goods.

It wasn't too long after Haley and baby were together that the kids came in to see their new sister for the first time.

Later that day, Paige got her first bath. She wasn't a big fan of the bath, but seemed to be pretty happy about being all nice and clean afterwards. Cute baby!!

After just three days in the hospital, it was time to go home. Haley did so well with surgery recovery and Paige was doing everything a perfect new baby should, that the doctors felt comfortable letting us go a bit early. So, home we did go...
